Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her numerous awards which included an Oscar. Actresses have a long history of working on Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. From the time she was a child she's been passionate in the field of acting. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. The mumps caused her to lose hearing in one her ear, however this did not stop her from pursuing her dream. When she was a teenager, she was a drama student in college and moved into New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. Hunter was stuck in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart in which Hunter made her Broadway debut. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. Her first film role was as an actress who played the lead character of Swing Shift. Her professional career spans over thirty years and she's appeared in a variety of TV films as well as series and films. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
